    Glad to hear of Grantham's safe arrival at the Sitio [Royal residence]. No letters from England, check with Campo, "give him the en horabuena from me though I understand he has not obtained the important title of Excmo". [Excellentisimo]. Shadwell reports bad news from New York via Lisbon [no further details]. Fritz accounts for his day. Monro called went to see Ormoulu at Peter Kearing's; consists of a compleat Garniture de iliminee[?] Thence to fair and on to Monro's. Declined tea, Congo or Bongso, observing Dr. Letson's warning about certain constitutions drinking it in the evening. Tried new goute; dry toast and glass of Canary wine. "I wonder Zenowieff ventures on les marchandises boiteuses du Vicomte". Compliments to the Nuncio Masia of Portugal, assumed to be coming to town after the Battue [Hunting event].
