    Parties: (i) Jonathan Cranfield of Harrowden, Cardington, yeoman and Sarah, his wife; John Newill of Willington, blacksmith and Anne, his wife; Elizabeth Hancock of Willington, spinster; (ii) Robert Clayton of Goldington, yeoman (nephew and heir of Robert Clayton late of Goldington, yeoman, deceased – who survived George Favell); (iii) Edward Tomlinson of Willington, gentleman and Mary, his wife; (iv) Sarah, Dowager Duchess of Marlborough; Francis, 2nd Earl Godolphin; William Clayton of Westminster, esquire and John Hanbury of Pontypool [Monmouth], four executors of John, 1st Duke of Marlborough Operative Part: - (iv) paid £40 (part of the personal estate of the late Duke of Marlborough) to (i); - (iv) paid 10 shillings each to (ii) and (iii); - (i) released (a) to (iv); - (ii) and (iii) released (a) to (iv) Property: (a) close of pasture containing 1½ acres in occupation of Robert Palmer abutting on hempland and orchard in occupation of Anne Greggs, widow, E, land late of Francis Brace W, and lands of Sir William Gostwick, Bart N and S in occupation of Robert Palmer with right of way over the yard and orchard of Anne Greggs to the common street Mary Tomlinson signed by mark Witnesses: - Edward Money; - William Pedder Endorsed with Release of 27 July 1753 Parties: (i) Charles, 3rd Duke of Marlborough; (ii) Francis, 2nd Earl Godolphin; (iii) Hugh Hamersley of Lincoln’s Inn [Middlesex], gentleman Reciting: - The £40 used to purchase (a) was money of the estate of John, 1st Duke of Marlborough; - (ii) had outlived his fellow trustees, Sarah, Dowager Duchess of Marlborough, William Clayton, Baron Sundon and John Hanbury and so was solely vested with (a) as trustee of the will of the will of John, 1st Duke of Marlborough; - Order in Chancery of 6 May 1752 in which (ii) was plaintiff and (i) and others defendants referring the matter to Peter Holford, Master of the Court, to appoint people as co-trustees with (ii); - the master’s report of 15 May 1752 approved John, 4th Duke of Bedford, Charles, 2nd Viscount Fane and James Stephens of Saint James, Westminster, doctor in physic as co-trustees; - master’s report confirmed by Order in Chancery of 28 May 1752 and ordering, inter alia, that (ii) convey all real estate purchased with the personal estate of John, 1st Duke of Marlborough in himself and the new trustees Operative Part: - (iii) paid 5 shillings to (ii); - (ii), with consent of (i), released (a) to (iii) Habendum - to (ii) to the use of John, Duke of Bedford, Francis, Earl Godolphin, Charles, Viscount Fane and James Stephens upon trusts in the will of John, 1st Duke of Marlborough Witnesses: - James Revell; - W Tregagle; - A Pincke
