  • Scope and Content
Thanks for letter from Woobourne. Excuses for not replying to his father etc. Imagined father would send him the money to pay it to Backhouse as usual. Miscommunication between Therese and Fritz detailed an enclosed `eclaircissment' [elucidation]. Enclosed a letter [not present] to Mr. Milbanke, giving his opinion of the small colleges, particularly Peter house. Admonishes Therese for forgetting to send the frank directed to Justinian Casamajor at Bristol. Master of St. John's died last night. Dr. Brooke, Dr. Powell, Dr. Ogden, Dr. Rutherford, Mr. Frampton and Mr. Skynner are candidates. Thinks contest is between Powell and Frampton. Election has to be over before 11 days. Every fellow not present forfeits his fellowship. Mrs. Thomas better. Dined at Christ's, great feast day. Dick Thompson in college. Young Lady Eden very ill. Dr. Ridlington, ill from a dropsy and long given over by Physicians, improved after drinking eight quarts of small beer. Likely to relapse however.
