- Scope and ContentGrant Parties: (i) Francis, Lord Russell, Baron of Thornhaugh [4th Earl of Bedford from 1627]; (ii) Sir Francis Staunton of Birchmore; Sir Edward Duncombe of Battlesden; Sir John Thompson of Crawley; Sir Robert Chernocke of Hulcote; George Russell of Ridgmont, esquire; William Alford of Tingreth, esquire; John Hardinge of Aspley Guise, esquire Reciting: - R6/63/35/1; - Sir William Russell, later 1st Baron of Thornhaugh was the survivor of the original feoffees and on his death the free school descended to (i), his son and heir; - (i)’s grandfather, the 2nd Earl, gave £100 to maintain a schoolmaster from the profits thereof but no profit had arisen for some years [see R6/63/35/5] and that the greater part stood to be lost Operative Part: - (i) granted the free school to (ii) - (i) granted an annuity of £10 to (ii) arising from the Manor of of Woburn Abbots to replace the £100 given by the 2nd Earl Witnesses: - Cavendishe Alsopp; - James Reep[?] - John Kinge
