  • Scope and Content
Hopes his Lordship arrived safely last night at Madrid, has not heard from him by the Parte as he expected. Refers to his conversation with the Minister of Indies, which he has already written and sent under cover to his servant at Madrid. Had omitted to tell him that the Portuguese Ambassador seems very desirous of purchasing his Gala Coach and he has delivered him the sum of Ten Gold Pistoles for his "sweet pretty secretary". The Duke and Duchess of Arcos were pleased to receive the note regarding the cost of the Piano Forte and will order the money to be paid in Madrid. Says that they can expect to receive a kind message from them in Madrid. The Marquis of Torremanzanol will send your Lordship the money advanced for him on Monday and seems to have a just sense of his Lordships goodness toward him. The Count of Rivillagegedo [?] is at Madrid and does not return until Saturday. Says it is probable that he may not see him, but has kept the note of his debt in case he meets with him before his departure. The Duke of Arcos desires the favour of his Lordship to order his coach to be shipped for Lisbon to the care of Count Fernannunez.
