- Scope and ContentWriting to inform Grantham that he has forwarded an extract of a letter from America, the original of which is to be delivered to his Lordship for his observation when he arrives at the Escurial. He is still very weak... "I continue without any great pain or return of the colick and I imagine myself much better yet my recovery seems very low." Tells Grantham that he has seen the original letter and observes that "the accounts are as fresh as any we can have here from America." [The extract from the original letter (from Mr Richard Downing to his partner James Daly) is enclosed outlining the determination of the Americans and the expectations of battle].
