From Joyes, Madrid to Grantham:

Received Grantham's letter of 1 September with the drafts for £500 on Mr Nesbitt returned signed. Joyes make good in account to Messrs. Duff and Welsh of Cadiz, the sum of 48:14 Reals for Grantham's account. Have just paid to M. Pillement, the French painter, Grantham's order for 24 Gold Pistoles, and charged the amount to his account. Will send by the Sardinian ambassador, if they can procure gold coin which is very scarce in Madrid at present, the 250 Gold Pistoles Grantham asks for. Otherwise, they will send them at the first opportunity, and give Grantham notice first.
