Translation: My Lord, You have not only been pleased to send me a letter of recommendation for your Minister of Foreign Affairs but you have also had the goodness to write to me in the kindest and most obliging terms. You overwhelm me with undeserved attention, civility and kindness, so that my pride as well as my feelings, are humbled and I know not how to give you proof of my gratitude. I know only too well that I cannot repay all that you have done on my behalf and I confine myself to assuring you of my complete devotion and to saying that I shall never be content until I have found the opportunity to give you the unequivocal proof of the perfect esteem in which, I have the honour to be Your very humble and obedient servant, Le Marquis d'Iranda. I beg you to remember me to Monsieur your brother and to assure him of my friendship and to tell him that I have found a lady here who resembles la sevillana. You will hear that our Duc d'Aiguillon has been forced to resign his commission and they are talking of Monsieur de Muy for War and of the Baron de Breteuil who is going to Naples for Foreign Affairs. [On wrapper] I have just heard that it is Monsieur le Comte de Vergennes who is in Sweden who is appointed to Foreign Affairs.
