    - to brother Robert Grange, a close of pasture common field ground commonly called Common pightles (4 acres), and all that freehold arable land and sward ground undisposed of lying dispersedly in the Common Fields of Cranfield, upon condition that the said Robert Grange, his heirs, exectutors or administrators, within five years of testator's decease, purchase £200 worth of Freehold land and settle it upon Thomas Field, Barnard Turney, Thomas Frank son of Thomas Frank, Rector of Cranfield, Thomas Edwards, John Wheeler, John Gurton the younger, Peter Caynhoe, Thomas Baker son of George Baker, Thomas Baker son of William Baker, and Peter Edwards, and to their heirs and assigns for ever, viz: .. In trust for putting forth of the sons of poor tradesmen, laboureres and others the poor householders of the parish of Cranfield, as followeth: . My will and mind is that one Child be put out an Apprentice within six years next after testator's decease, and every two years afterwards one child be put forth an apprentice as aforesaid . and what money there is remaining of the £20 when he is put forth to apprentice as aforesaid shall be paid by the foresaid trustees . and that none shall be put forth and apprentice unde the age of fourteen or fifteen years . and if any of the Apprentices shall die before he hath served eight years, then the money that was left in the hands of the Trustees or thier successors shall neglect (sic - apparently some words ommitted) or refuse to put forth an apprentice every two years or within one month after the two years are expired then the aforesaid £10 [not previously mentioned] shall not be paid that year to the trustees but shall be paid to the owners of the Farm house wherein the aforesaid Richard Grange now liveth "& so Forth" endorsed "This is a true copy of Mr Richard Grange Last Will - it was made the 14th day of February 1683 in the Six and Thirth (sic) Year of our Sovering Lord Charles The Second" made 14 Feb. 36 Charles II [1683/4] copy no date [circa 1750]
