Sent from St. James's Square 20 January 1772, received 7 February. On the eve of his departure, begs Grantham to present a sealed letter to Grimaldi, who will, as is the custom, deliver a letter to His Catholic Majesty. "I am going on what is called an honourable mission, but it is a delicate and critical one. I begin to tire of bustle... and to wish for quiet... It is worse than torture the continually taking leave of people we love and esteem".
