  • Scope and Content
Encloses copies of accounts sent to Mr Draper since your Lordship left England, continued to end of January 1774 with rentals of all estates possessed by you, Sir Norton and Lady Robinson. Glad to hear from Mr Waddilove that you and Mr Robinson enjoy good health in Spain. Saw Mr Waddilove "peaceably possessed of Topcliffe Vicarage"; delighted with situation of the house; he will report "how the Ladies your Cousins do in York". "Sir Norton remains in Statu quo - His Appetite is very good, but his Manners and Memory bad - He lives quiet and temperate, and I fear will outlive many of his Friends". "Whilst your Lordship is serving your Country abroad I hope you will not think me idle at Home, for every Year I make a Plantation or two for the Benefit of your Lordship's Grandchildren - but this Sort of Work if continued much longer will certainly beggar me, therefore my Good Lord comes soon whilst there are some Peices of Wast Ground left, and save me from Ruin, by giving me a Discharge, then take to yourself a virtuous Lady". (Sic).
