Scope and Content
Was charged with King's affairs at Court of Turin during summers of 1780 and 1781 and also in 1761-2, 1764-5; secured approbation of Lord Hillsborough who, had he remained in office, would have made some allowance for trouble and expense; waived claim in view of subsequent changes. Has just received letter from Pension Office "desiring me to send to Mr Orde the date of a pension I have, and the cause of its being granted. I have taken this opportunity of resuming it, and of expressing a wish to have it transferred on the foreign Minister's Establishment as there are less deductions than on the Civil list pensions. Encloses copy of letter to Mr Orde. Please say "a word in my favour to Lord Shelburne or to Mr Orde" and "honour me with a line directed here at Sir Horace Mann's".
