Intended to come with Lady Mary Duncan to Madrid to thank Lord Grantham for his protection "but as Sir Peter Dinis is so good to carry us to Italy in one of the Ships under his Command going that way" enabling us to avoid "bad roads, and worse Inns". Set out to Alicante Monday next to go aboard the sloop early in August; offers to execute Commissions for Lord Grantham in Italy. The Comte de Sayve "has really been as a Father to us".; Lady Mary talks of making another visit to Spain after seeing Italy.
