Scope and Content
Am "returned to my old place of abode"; enquires after health of Lord Grantham and brother. Offers services. Before leaving London sent Lord Grantham by Malaga "two tosting Cheeses which I hope will get to you safe, and good if the weather does not heat and dry them". Saw Mr Waddelove/Waddilove in London - he will make way to Madrid to vary usual route, Mr Fitzwilliam is at Caen in Normandy and "wrote me a Letter but omited franking it and lays at Post Office at Paris". Respects to Lord Grantham's brother and Mr Shadwell. (Sic).
