On leaving Gibraltar hoped to find Lord Grantham in England and offer congratulations on appointment to Embassy in Spain. Intended also to recommend to Lord Grantham's protection "two officers of my regiment, to whom I had given leave to make a tour to Madrid, a Captain Vignoles and a Mr Baird"; latter is a young man of large estate and my near relation". They will deliver this.
