- Scope and ContentHas refused to assist Captain Tancred in selling out of the army. It is "of the utmost consequence that officers who come from the half pay should not be permitted to sell out of the army". "Mr Tancred will have all possible indulgence for the recovery of his health and I hope he will recover: At all Events neither he nor his Lady will be in a worse situation in that which I found them. "When selling out has been allowed, it was in special circumstances which do not exist in this case. "Tho' I am not quite pleased with Mr Tancred's management in this transaction, I shall never forget one moment that he is Your Lordship's relation and protégé".
