- Scope and ContentLadyship's letter on Delmé Radcliffe hunting with his foxhounds the woods near Wrest Park. "I do not know that Lord Southampton ever asked or ever had any express permission from anyone to hunt ladyship's woods near Wrest: It is true they sometimes hunted Pidley and Cainho park woods, 2-3 times a winter, but not oftener, Apprehensive if Radcliffe's hounds hunt the woods at or near Wrest too frequently they will be apt to disturb deer and game; now have pretty good number of pheasants in woods and in spinneys in old park; pity to drive them away by too frequent hunting. Caution Radcliffe not to come frequently. If fox found in Cainho park or Pidley wood, he will probably come for shelter to park and gardens. On Wednesday had about 18 tenants, garden men and labourers to dine at Wrest to keep Grantham's birthday; cheerful, merry, proper order and decorum.
