  • Scope and Content
Has not been out much, neither gaiety nor a constitution for racketing; but often in St James' Square of an evening to meet the parties of the Clarendon family and Lady Mary Forbes (in her usual spirits but not too high). Lady Hume's ball. Bishop of Durham has called 3 times, quite wore out by constant attendance on Lady Sophia; her death a happy release. Has seen little of Mrs Charles Yorke, was confined with her sister Lady Beauchamp during daughter's illness. Uneasy about your Mama's fall. She doe not choose to be thought not well, much less confined to her room; has seen her almost every day; looked pale and ill and spirits not very good. Saw her Thursday before she went to Richmond, seemed much mended, and could raise herself and stand a little longer, but had not been down stairs; your Papa advised her to have inhabited his apartment a day, then go to Richmond. Showery weather will probably make them return as we know your Papa hates bad weather. Petitioning spirit abroad in Cambridgeshire.
