Scope and Content
Note: This bundle contains deeds to four messuages in Angel Street, Bedford, all of which were owned by Betty Watkins between 1801 and 1804. The deeds listed in HT1/7A relate to the individual premises eventually sold together to the Bedford Charity as "three messuages situate together on the West side of Angel Street" in 1804 (see HT1/2/1-2 for further deeds of these messuages). Those in HT1/7B are of a house, garden and gateway which were sold to the Charity in 1828. The old title deeds to both properties were retained in one bundle, as Betty Watkins kept the gateway (previously held with the three messuages) when she sold off most of the property in 1804.
