    Book intended for the use of the Allen family 'and whoever reads it must consider that it is intended for this purpose only, viz, as a record of the history of my Shrievalty for family reference in the future...The events brought together in this volume are intended to show to those who come after, what are the official duties of a High Sheriff in the early 20th century. For this reason all the official documents connected with the appointment to the Office have been set out in full, as well as the official forms showing the manner in which the most important work connected with the Shrievalty is carried out...This record of events is printed in chronological order, except in the case of the presentation to HMS Bedford.'     Presented to the Record Office by W H Allen 28 April 1923 as unofficial accession 63. Originally classified as HSV10 it was later transfered to the searchroom library under classification 120 but on the reorganisation of the library in 2014 it was decided that it sat better with other W H Allen documents in the AQ collection.
