    Returned from His Grace's fete de champetre. Fatigue the Bishop had to go through, the least part of his duty in the church, the greatest entertaining and receiving new people and faces from morning to night (for the attending Bishop is His Grace's right hand). Sittingbourne. "If I had had time you would scarcely have escaped a regular journal, which however would have consisted of a repetition of he same scenes over and over at 16 places with little variation; in the evenings enjoyed ½ hour's walk, or, if not practicable, pool at quadrille. Questions of ecclesiastical promotion. Much detail about Canterbury (Mayor, Archbishop etc.) Bishop of St David's preached. Tour lasted 3 weeks.
