Letter from Agneta Yorke to Jemima Yorke. Sent from Portland Place: Rheumatism. Sorry about Hardwicke. Caroline has returned from wedding, dispensed with her black gloves 1 day and changed her black crape for white. [? Carew and Jemima]. Bride's wedding gown: white satin Italian gown and petticoat, very fine book muslin worked apron bordered with broad fine Mechlin lace, handkerchief and ruffles to suit, white Spanish hat and feathers - looked extremely well; composed. Quiet weddings nowadays; people marry as if they were ashamed, instead of making the day one of joy and festivity it is turned into sackcloth and ashes. Carew agreeable and sensible. Letters from Joseph. Mrs Siddons.
