  • Scope and Content
Caroline not getting on; cough; no more bathing; has consulted young Dr Peyps; he wonders Dr Watson did not bleed her in the measles. Joseph perfectly well, dipped every other day. Good lodgings; probably improved since Jemima was there; plenty of vegetables. The Steyne affords much amusement to the children. Has made good use of palfrey. Would be glad to get home. Has heard both boys well, though Philip had throat. "We have many great folks here, among the rest Charles Fox, who to give this place a specimen of his abilities paraded up this street at 4 this morning accompanied by Lord Petersham, Mr Stanhope and Lord Villars; they knocked at most of the doors violently, at mine without ceasing for ¼ hour calling out fire and murder and swearing all sorts of oaths; when they had roused all the inhabitants and frighted most of them out of their wits they went home to bed."
