  • Scope and Content
Conscience tender that she has not come or written, hopes to come in September. Thanks for trouble in desiring pony to be measured and ordering new saddle, which is the best plan with a good saddler; glad if John Smith would bespeak a new bridle to be made directly, for one here worn out and old saddle too small; lastly should be glad for J Hill to be sent with pony to town at the end of the week, or in fact to Putney, for it would be inconvenient to send W.Smith to St Albans as has done previously. He had better be led all the way, should get here next day, will then have a few days rest before next journey. Visit to Warley, drove to camp, less music than in other years, did not see any bands, Lord Cornwall is in town. Mrs Phillimore was a Miss Ongley, and Miss Ann with her. Drove to Lord Petre's with which I was much pleased, the ground is well laid out and the trees fine, the house is showy with the fronts handsome, but somehow not what Lord Grantham would have built for either convenience or arrangement. Intends going Monday-Wednesday to Mr Yorke and Mrs Carew, then bringing Frederick home and getting Tom home on Friday or Saturday. Has Mrs Harrison and company finished 8 shirts for Tom, and can she send them up this week?
