  • Scope and Content
Notes read:- 'Harlington. 460 Electors. They are extremely Left - but we have recently re-formed the Branch which is now highly successful with a membership of over 100 and very active. The Chairman is Mrs. Tabor, Harlington Manor - Vice Chairman, Mr. Golding, Harlington works, Sharpenhoe, Hon. Secretary, Mrs. Slade, School House, Harlington. The village is mainly agricultural, and a few people work in the various industries in Luton. Westoning. 456 Electors. Fairly strong Radical and Labour elements, but we hold our own. Chairman - Mr. T.A.E. Sanderson, The Gables, Westoning - Telephone Flitwick 224 Hon. Secretary Mr. C.R. Higgs, 39, High Street, Westoning. The village has recently been canvassed by Mr. Scott, who increased the membership considerably. The village is largely agricultural owing to Sir Frederick Richmond owning so much land. The remainder work in Luton. Mr. Lennox-Boyd attended a whist Drive there recently. Tingrith. 127 Electors. 100% agricultural - a rather Radical little village, but we do hold socials and whist drives here. Suggest you see Mrs. Burton at Woodend Farm, Tingrith (telephone Toddington 250) or Mr. Goddard at Redcaps, Tingrith. Eversholt. 336 Electors. 100% agricultural - being the centre of the Duke of Bedford's Estate. We have quite a good Conservative support in Eversholt, although there is a strong Radical element. Mr. Lennox-Boyd recently addressed a garden meeting in Eversholt. Suggest you see Mrs. Barr, School House, Eversholt, who is the Hon. Secretary. Milton Bryan. 178 Electors. Part of the Woburn Polling District - and on the Duke of Bedford's Estate. 100% agricultural - and radically minded, with a few Conservatives. Suggest you see Mr. A. Heady, Fountains Farm. Flitwick. 1,479 Electors. A large number of the people in Flitwick work in Bedford and Luton - some even go to London daily. The agricultural element in the district is largely market gardening. The Radical and Labour elements are strong but we have a very good Conservative Branch. The Chairman is Mrs. R.A. Lyall, of Flitwick Manor (Tel. Flitwick 242) who is also Divisional Treasurer of the women's Branch. Hon. Secretary is Miss J. Williams, 47, Ampthill Road, Flitwick. A meeting held at the Manor recently was very well attended.'
