  • Scope and Content
Letter from Camp 4 Cpd 1 Hut IA, Knockaloe [Isle of Man] headed: “Nicht zwischen die Zeilen schreiben!” “Many thanks for your letter received last week. It was a great surprise because until then I only had heard news about you through Pollie. But I know that in times like these we are not always allowed to do as we like. Since I got your letter great news has come and you will therefore be left in no doubt whether you will be at home or abroad at Xmas. My lot is different, but I wont grumble as long as I get home sound and sane in body and mind so that I can earn a living for wife, child and self. Give my Kindest regards to Emmie and the children. My word, they will be glad when Dad comes home for good. Our boy is getting 4 next January and as Pollie tells me is getting a fine boy. He was 4 months old when I left him. And we have grown older ourselves, older and wiser. Pollie and the boy had the Flu very badly and I trust that they are over the worst. I wonder when I shall see them again. It may be soon, it may still be far distant, but it will be the happiest day in my life. Hoping you are well, I remain your affectionate brother Fritz”.
