    From: 1891 To: 1891
  • Scope and Content
The Chief Clerk has determined that property in Schedule "1" (probably HF41/7/9/9) [HF41/7/9/11a?] belongs to the Estate of Edmund Powers, deceased BUT property described in HF41/7/9/9 & 10 is determined NOT to be part of his Estate. The Bank has failed to prove an Equitable Mortgage on Biggleswade Mills to secure the Bank Account of Powers & Sons Recites the Evidence; notes the death of James Newbury, the Bank Manager. 24 June 1891 Warrington's Opinion. Not desirable to try to prove Mortgage on Biggleswade Mills, as the Courts hold it to have been discharged (see HF41/7/8/15) [?] Advises against cross-examining George Powers. His Affidavits are vague and cross-examination might well lead him to more specific testimony, harmful to Defendants
