    Letter from William George Tompkins [the battalion was training at Albert] to his wife as follows: My Dear Wife Just a line to let you know I am well as can be expected been shifted again for a short time. Hope Dear you are well & all at Home. Love to M & C . Remember me to M & C also Mrs B & Mag. Hope she is better now. Please don’t send me much only eatables, no soap or socks yet as no room for anything only necessaries not like Home so you will understand. Mr Wake wants my correct address for a Xmas parcel have sent it today with this letter plenty of mud out here oh dear. I do hope it will all be over soon as should dearly love to see you. I pray that it may be so very soon. I hear of change in the Cabinet oh for a change out here . I hope to be spared so as to tell you of all my experiences some day. We all seem chummy & happy as much as we can be in the Shiny Seventh. Now with my Heart’s full love. Tons of Kisses, God’s Blessing to you and may your prayers be answered soon. With love I close more next time Thank Herb for his letter. You never sent no kisses last time.
