- Scope and Contentincluding letter E S King of Elm View, Biggleswade to Hooper and Company; knows H Thompson of Tempsford well... “do not think much of him, he is in a low place and I think he is not in a position to pay 20s in the £, he is inclined to get into debt and takes long credit... some difficulty in getting his money but does not owe anything now”. could have place if he pays rent quarterly and in advance and enters it as it is, at once 24 Jun 1886 letter Hooper and Company to H I Thompson; offering him Bakehouse on quarterly tenancy so long as £3 quarterly rent paid in advance and take the fixtures at Conder’s valuation 24 Jun 1886 H I Thompson agrees to it 25 Jun 1886 later correspondence deals with arguing over valuing of fixtures, including letter Hooper and Company to Thompson; no cause for complaint regarding valuation, says it is very low; less than Key thought it should have been (Note who had been distrained on for rent and debt); Thompson not aware of Key’s additions; if Powers and Company keep the premises they will be constrained to do repairs but “you will probably have the chance of becoming the owner this Michaelmas and so you could do the repairs more to your satisfaction” letter, H Thompson declining place altogether 23 Jul 1886
