- Scope and ContentJohn King: On Saturday 10th September about 9pm, 2 companies were at his house. He gave the prisoner leave to get some nuts which he had bought into the house. Thomas Yarrell, who was in the house, raised the alarm that somebody was stealing glasses out of the cupboard. The prisoner then dropped down into a chair and pretended to be asleep or tipsy and would not speak. They shook him and took out of his pockets 2 pint glasses, 3 small half pint glasses, 2 cups and 2 saucers. Thomas Yarrell: He was working on the public house of John King on Saturday 10th September. He heard a bit of a jingle of glass and looked up and saw the prisoner take a glass from the cupboard. He tried to take hold of the prisoner but the prisoner resisted. He then called for Mr. King and upon searching the prisoner found Mr. King’s glasses and cups as mentioned by the last witness. The prisoner would not speak. William George: He knew nothing about it.
