- Scope and ContentWilliam Walsh: he was one of the special constables of the parish of Stagsden and was officiated one of the watcher. On Saturday 22 January he was on the highway on watch and Joseph Golding came to him ad struck him violently. He had a wounded face and a blackened eye. The assault was without provocation saving that Golding had quarrelled with him on account of him telling the Overseer of the Poor that Golding has threatened to fight him and unless he was prevent then he [Walsh] could not commit longer to the watch. Priosner committed to the common gaol until sureties were found for his appearance at the next session. He was discharged on Thomas Golding, his father and Thomas Knight, farmer of Stagsden each being bound to £20 for his appearance.
