- Scope and ContentRecites: Wednesday 25 November 11 Charles I [1635] i) Dorothy Conquest, querent ii) Richard Conquest esquire, defendant upon hearing the matter in the presence of council learned in law on both sides concerning £500 claimed by i) to be due to her with damages from ii) in pursuance of Indentures between father of said plaintiff and defendant on one part and said defendant on other part, being settlement of an estate on the defendant's marriage, provision was made by their father for portions for his said daughters of whom the plaintiff is one. This Court conceives that only £400 is due to her with damages at 5% which comes to £30 more. The Plaintiff acknowledges £10 loan from the defendant her brother ...acknowledges said £400 to be due and pretends that the same being to be raised according to the purport of the said settlement out of sales of timber and wood, ought not yet to be paid but only £5%... [several lines illegible here] ... after the rate of £8%. And it is likewise ordered that the said defendant ... a desire to retain the said portion in his hands for ... years longer, then the said defendant is forthwith to pay ... to be allowed of by Sir Robert Rich, knight, one of the masters of this court for payment thereof, together with £8% for so long a time as he shall retain the same upon security as aforesaid. The increase thereof to be paid ½ yearly or ¼ly to the plaintiff Orders Richard Conquest to perform aforesaid order
