- Scope and Content-the Hill Close 26 acres -Seare Close 6 acres -close called the Twelve Acres 12 acres -close called the Fryth otherwise Crouches Close 10 acres -close called Hell Crofte otherwise Brickhill Pasture 80 acres -Broome Closse, lying now or sometime upon Brickhill Pasture 30 acres -Laye Closse, also lying upon Brickhill Pasture 30 acres -2 pastures sometime in occupation of Thomas Davy of Maulden adjoining to the said Laye Closse 8 acres -close called Brickhill Pasture Grove with 3 other groves adjoining 30 acres -close called Little Limbosses sometime in the occupation of one Thomas Huett 30 acres -close called Little Fattinge Pasture adjoining the said Limbosses, sometime in the occupation of said Thomas Huett 35 acres all lying in Houghton Conquest, Ampthill and Maulden, reputed to be part of the manor of Houghton and were the jointure of Elizabeth Conquest, now deceased, late mother of the said Richard, settled on her marriage with her late deceased husband Sir Edmund Conquest knight by Richard Conquest, then esquire, father of the said Edmund, by Indenture 1 December 38 Elizabeth [1595] [RO5/256] to hold to ii) for 21 years from the feast of the Annunciation next; ii) not to comit waste during the life of i) but during the years of the term remaining after the death of i) to hold the same without impeachment for waste; peppercorn rent during the life of i); after the death of i) paying for every acre of the said premises as the same shall appear to be according to ancient writings concerning the premises, 6s..8d at Michaelmas Repayment: £50 on 1 November next, then successively on 1 May and 1 November until 1 November 1644; then, £1,300 on 1 May 1645; repayment to be made at common dining hall of the Inner Temple, London Signature: i) Witnesses: John Platt, ?
