- TitleCharles Grey, Howick, to Samuel Whitbread II: transcript at W1/2416.
- Date free text27 November 1803
- Production dateFrom: 1803 To: 1803
- Scope and ContentExpected a statesmanlike review from Fox & the Grenvilles at the meeting of Parliament, not milk & water. Hopes it is not by Sheridan's advice. Cannot attend himself. Mary to be confined in March. His suspicion arose from hearing Sheridan had been at Southill. Has heard that Fox, Sheridan & the Prince [Prince of Wales, later George IV] had a discussion at Moira's. Tierney told Moira that Addington was forming a plan. Why does Tierney prefer the new to the old income tax? Is glad the Irish government have avoided Lord Clare's (?) abominations. Criticism of SW's verses. Little fear that Fox will forfeit his praise for patriotism, but the same things have been said of Pulteney, which now look foolish on the suit of Lord Bath. Is having great difficulty with his farm. His bailiff is as great a fool as Addington. A further note on the position of Fox & Sheridan.
