    whereas: Nicholas Denton of Barton in the Clay esquire, customary tenant of the manor of Millbrook surrendered on 28 September 1697 to the Lord of the Manor -cottage in Millbrook then and now in occupation of Robert Webb to use of Henry Goldsmith of Chaulton, gentleman and James Gregory of Bendish, Hertfordshire, gentleman subject to provisoe for repayment of £242..18..6 which was not repaid. Goldsmith and Gregory were admitted to said premises at court Nicholas Denton afterwards sold premises and Goldsmith and Gregory at his request surrendered all premises (except said cottage in occupation of Robert Webb) to John Hind, brewer Whereas: Nicholas Denton on 26 August last [1703] surrendered by the hands of Michael Goodman and John Fountaine -the aforesaid cottage and his equity of redemption therein as a collateral security for payment of £35 to Michael Arnald of Ampthill, gentleman repayment has since been made Whereas: Nicholas Denton has since sold cottage to ii) for £35 and said Thomas Goldsmith and James Gregory have at request of Nicholas Denton surrendered on 16 March last [1704] by hands of Thomas Brace and Joseph Penyfather, 2 tenants of the said manor to use of ii), who was admitted at court of 28 April last (RO1/42) Now: consideration: said £35 paid to Denton by ii) i) releases to ii) -all right in aforesaid cottage and appurtenances Signature: i) Witnesses: Michael Arnald, Mathew Denton, Thomas Chase, Edward Money
