(iii) Vice Admiral Sir Charles Adam KCB, Governor of Greenwich Hospital;
(iv) London North Western Railway Company (a consolidation of London and Birmingham Railway Company, Grand Junction Railway Company and Manchester and Birmingham Railway Company)
Reciting:
(I) bargain and sale leading to a common recovery of 16 June 1810 (1) John, 6th Duke of Bedford; (2) (i), then Marquis of Tavistock; (3) Samuel Brown; (4) William Adam.
(II) common recovery of Trinity Term 1810 in which (2) was vouched.
(III) lease and appointment of 26th-27th July 1810 between (1) John, 6th Duke of Bedford; (2) Francis, 7th Duke of Bedford, then Marquess of Tavistock and Anna Maria, his wife; (3) Charles Stanhope, 3rd Earl of Harrington; (4) William Adam; William Drew; (5) John FitzPatrick, 2nd Earl of Upper Ossory; William Adam; (6) Edward Adolphus Saint Maur, 11th Duke of Somerset; Charles Stanhope, Viscount Petersham. The land included, inter alia: (a) the manors of Husborne alias Husborne Crawley and Ridgmont; (b) Red Field Farm, Husborne Crawley of 148 acres, 1 rood, 5 poles in the occupation of Thomas Turney; (c) Warren Farm, Ridgmont of 119 acres, 33 poles in the occupation of Janet Redman; (d) 22 closes, pieces of arable and pasture containing 115 acres, 3 roods, formerly part of Saint Leonard’s Farm, Bedford, Saint Mary in the occupation of the governors of Bedford Infirmary, Theed Pearse esquire, the Corporation of Bedford, William Berrill, William Skelton, Thomas Swannell, Charles Short, William Stapleton, George Robinson, William Attwood, Peregrine Nash, John Sheen, John Emery, Samuel Smith, William Brown, Richard Allen, William Benson, John Timaeus, Dr. Yates and Robert Stevington; (e) Saint Leonard’s Farm house and two closes containing together 7 acres, 2 roods, 4 poles in Bedford, Saint John and Bedford, Saint Mary together with all tolls of fair and in the occupation of Peregrine Nash; (f) two closes, part of Saint Leonard’s Farm, adjoining the Luton road containing together 5 acres, 1 rood, 35 poles in the occupation of Ann Elgar in which (a) were conveyed to (6) for 98 years from 8 August 1808 upon trusts for raising £500 per annum during the joint lives of (i) for the separate use of Anna Maria
If she received a jointure of £3,000 per annum and that after the death of (1) and her husband Anna Maria should received a £5,000 rent charge instead of the £3,000 jointure, to the use of (6) for 200 years; (b)-(c) to the use of (1); (d)-(f) to the use of (5) for 2,000 years from the death of Francis, 7th Duke of Bedford, upon trust to raise £10,000 for children of (i)
(IV) Death of the Earl of Upper Ossory in 1818 and William Adam on 17 February 1839 having, in his will of 3 December 1826, appointed (iii) and William George Adam as his executors
(V) probate of the will of William Adam granted on 27 July 1839 in PCC to (iii)
(VI) lease, appointment and release of 20-21 July 1824 (1) John, 6th Duke of Bedford; (2) Francis, 7th Duke of Bedford; (3) William Russell, commonly called Lord William Russell, now dead, brother of (1); William George Adam; (4) Lord William Russell; Lord George William Russell; William George Adam; (5) Thomas Thynne, 2nd Marquess of Bath; Henry Richard Vassall-Fox, 3rd Baron Holland (appointments of 20 June 1829 between (1) John, 6th Duke of Bedford; (2) Francis, 7th Duke of Bedford; (3) Lord William Russell; William George Adam; (4) and 29th and 31st March 1834 between (1) John, 6th Duke of Bedford; (2) Francis, 7th Duke of Bedford; (3) Lord William Russell; William George Adam indorsed upon it) in which all lands of (1) were settled for 1,500 years from 20 July 1824 on (5) to the use of (2) for his life after the death of (1) with power of sale for Lord George William Russell
(VII) Death of William George Adam on 16 May 1839; of John, Duke of Bedford on 20 October 1839 and of Lord William Russell on 5 May 1840
(VIII) Death of Lord George William Russell on 16 July 1846 appointing, in his will of 2 March 1844, (ii) as sole executor
(IX) Probate of the will of Lord George William Russell on 11 December 1846 in PCC
(X) release of 9 April 1844 (1) Samuel Bennett; (2) Francis, 7th Duke of Bedford; (3) Thomas Wing in which (2) paid £1,450 to (1) for (g) allotment of land in Upper Hambledon Furlong, Marston Moretaine containing 22 acres, 3 roods, 4 poles sometime since divided into two closes of pasture called Reddalls Pieces formerly in the occupation of Samuel Bennett with buildings thereon
(XI) (iv) had power to make the Bedford and Bletchley Railway authorised by the Bedford and London and Birmingham Railway Act 1845
(X) (b)-(g) were required for the Bedford and Bletchley Railway and for forming a station in Bedford for the railway
(XI) (i) contracted with (iv) for sale for £28,237/4/3
(XII) £257/6/- had been apportioned as the amount for conveyance of part of (g), the remainder being £27,980/4/3 paid to (ii)
(XIII) Anna Maria had agreed to join the conveyance for discharging (iv) of her £500 and £5,000 rent charges and Francis, 7th Duke of Bedford agreed to indemnify (iv) against the £10,000 charged by the deed of 26-27 July 1810 and (iii) had agreed to surrender the term of 2,000 years on the conveyed property

- (ii), with the consent of (i), conveyed the property below to (iv)
