  • Admin/biog history
Originally Wesleyan. Chapel opened at Bell End 1852. New chapel in High Street opened 1860. Still active in 2013. In 1903 it was felt that the chapel, although still well attended, had ceased to occupy a central position in Kempston. Another chapel was therefore built, which opened in 1904, and later became Kempston East, see MB2/KEM2. Records were received from Kempston East in 2024 that covered the period before and after the building of the new chapel in 1904. The earlier material has been catalogued here as part of the original Kempston Wesleyan Methodist Church, the later material has been catalogued under Kempston East. Circuits: Bedford and Ampthill to 1875; Bedford St Mary's 1875-1942; Bedford South 1942-1971; Bedford South and Ampthill 1971-2010; North Bedfordshire from 2010.
