    Examined copy of Court Roll of Manor of Biggleswade presents conditional out of court surrender by Edward Rudd of 9 September 1735 to Robert Jenkyn of Harpenden esquire (as mortgage for £3,500 and 4% interest) (enrolled 18 and 19 May 1736) admittance of his heirs and daughters Elizabeth Kingsley wife of Heylock Kingsley of Sandy and Ann Reading of Harpenden, widow. NB 1735 occupiers given as “now” a) 2 messuages (containing 3 burgages) called “White Hart” in occupation of Edward Rudd And 2 cottages, Biggleswade, late in occupation of John Crick and widow Cooper, November 6 1735, Joseph Lake And 2 acres 3 roods meadow lying dispersed in Back Mead then late in occupation of Edward Rudd and now Samuel Cole and Thomas Hyde And 5 acres 1 rood of meadow lying dispersed in common meadow called Horsecroft or Long Mead alias Ray Mead, now in occupation of Edward Rudd And 94 acres 2 roods of arable lying dispersedly in parish fields of Biggleswade in occupation of Edward Rudd And “White’s Close” (pasture) (2 acres) late in occupation of Henry Guryn (?), now Roger Leighton the younger And pieces of meadow in Biggleswade (3 acres ¼ rood) in occupation of Edward Rudd (All surrendered by William to his son Edward Rudd 9 and 10 April 1706) b) so much as is copyhold of close of arable and pasture called the “Delves” in occupation of Edward Rudd And 17 acres of arable in common fields late in occupation of William Hancock; occupation of Edward Rudd And 1 acre of meadow, Long Mead, late in occupation William Hancock, in occupation Edward Rudd And 2 acres of arable in North Field late in occupation of William Hancock, in occupation of Edward Rudd And 2 pieces of arable in Common Fields (18 acres) in occupation of Edward Rudd. one of which is South Field on Hungerhill or near Hungerhill piece, other lies in Holmside on S. of London Road, formerly lands of Matthew Mott esquire (above purchased by Edward Rudd from Richard Lee of Clifton, gentleman, son and heir of Matthew Lee of same, deceased, who was son and heir of Richard Lee of Potton, gentleman deceased) c) 73 acres 3½ roods of arable dispersed in Common Fields (purchased of Edward Bray by Edward Rudd 1735, occupied by him) d) messuage, Langford End, Biggleswade then late in occupation of Widow Pratt (purchased from George Norman by Edward Rudd) e) 10 acre of arable dispersed in Common Fields And stable, granary and garden lying behind White Hart Inn, now in occupation of Edward Rudd and Thomas Marshall (purchased from Hester and Elizabeth Wiseman, coheirs of Lady Bromsall deceased) And cottage called “Plough”, alehouse, Shortmead End with close or pightle behind it (1 acre) in occupation of Joseph Norman And Farm Close (3 acres) in occupation of John Miles, blacksmith And Close adjoining called “Meadow Close” (1 acre) in occupation of John Taylor And 2 acres meadow in Long Mead called “Dry Holm” in occupation of Edward Rudd And Crown Close (2 acres) in occupation of William Ransome, All in Biggleswade Moiety devised direct to Edward Rudd by his Will Moiety purchased by Edward Rudd from brother Jonathan, to whom it had been devised by William’s Will Consideration 11s..8d ser. fines 1/3rd part of quit rent (examined 30 July 1801) 6 Aug 1748
