Letter from Sir Hilary Jenkinson re. the use of nitro-cellulose or cellulose acetate in document repair ‘…cannot be regarded as safe for application to documents i.e. in the sense of being chemically state…methyl cellulose would be safe in this sense, so far as chemical knowledge can predict.
