Therefore he was amerced. Common fine vjs vd [6s 5d] Also they present that they gave vjs vd [6s 5d] as common fine this day. Tasters of Ale Amercements xxijd [22d] John Flaundres and Randolph Bawdewyn, the Tasters there, presented that John Rydy vjd [6d] constantly, John Morbourne vjd [6d] constantly, John Sterlyng vjd [6d] constantly brewed; John Bele ijd [2d. once, and Alisia Stowghton ijd [2d] once, brewed and broke the assize. Therefore they are amerced. Xij [12] sworn men John Cooke John Warner John Morbourne William Tayllour John Myton William Paswater John Bawdewyn Christopher Malton Robert Cooke Robert Partryche Nicholas Cruce Hugh Garnet The sworn men present that the aforesaid Constables, Tithing men and Tasters well and faithfully gave evidence and concealed nothing. Proceedings of the little court The Homage present that the Tenement in the holding of William Couper is almost derelict through the neglect of the aforesaid William, who has not sufficiently repaired it. Therefore the Bailiff was ordered to provide repairs and a new tenant. And that he [William] should be distrained of all that he had in the Demesne for the aforesaid repairs. Also they presented that the pig-sty in the holding of John Sterlyng and one malt-house in the holding of Nicholas Waren’ were defective through repairs being neglected. Therefore they were ordered to repair them before the next [court] under a penalty for each of xld [40d]. And that Randolph Bawdewyn should repair [crossed out, un- h] one pigsty and the side of the barn and his dwelling just as he was ordered at the last [court]. And that Nicholas Waren’ should repair his dwelling and his enclosure between him and John Flaundres just as he was ordered at the last [court]. To this Court came Christopher Malton and took from the Lord one Messuage and viij [8] acres of land lately in the holding of Randolph Bawdewyn to be held by himself, his wife and one following, according to the custom of the manor for the term of their lives and whichever of them lives longest. Rendering therefrom to the Lord viijs [8s] a year at [crossed out, tes] the terms there and suit of Court; and all services pertaining to it. And they will repair, or each of them will repair, the said Messuage, at their own expense during the aforesaid term except that the Lord will provide him and each of them with timber, withies and laths as was necessary. And he made fealty and was admitted. To this Court came Thomas Baylemont and took from the Lord one Messuage and x [10] acres of land which Hugo Garnet lately held. To be held by himself and his assigns, according to the custom of the manor, until the end of a term of xxt [20] years next following. Rendering therefrom to the Lord xs [10s] a year and all services pertaining to it, except that the Lord will provide them during the aforesaid term with timber, withies and laths for repairing the said Messuage as was necessary. And the said Thomas will make the repairs at his own expense during the term, and he made fealty. And to this Court came Robert Bawdewyn and surrendered into the hand of the lord one Messuage and x [10] acres of land lately in the holding of Simon Usshere. And on this John Yerwey son of John Yerwey the younger, came and took it from the hand of the lord. To be held by himself, his wife and one following, according to the custom of the manor, for the term of their lives and whichever of them lives longest. Rendering therefrom to the Lord xs [10s] a year at the terms there, and suit of Court and all the services which pertain to it. They will repair, or each of them will repair, the said Messuage at their own expense during their term except that the Lord will provide to him and to each of them timber, withies and laths as was necessary. And he made fealty. To this court came John Yerwey the Bailiff, and took from the Lord one Tenement called Cokwrytes and x [10] acres of land lately in the holding of John Tayllour. To be held by himself and his assigns according to the custom of the manor until the end of the term sixty years next following. Rendering therefrom to the Lord xs [10s] a year at the terms there and suit of Court and all the services pertaining to it. And he will repair, or each of them will repair, the said Tenement at their own expense during the aforesaid term, except that the Lord will provide him or each of them with timber withies and laths as was necessary.
