Born c. 1907 Henry James Weller worked in the financial sector and became Managing Director of the Bedfordshire Building Society. From 1932 he served in a voluntary capacity on the Bedfordshire & Luton executive council of the Health Service and its forerunners. He was chairman of the Bedford Group Hospital Management Committee, Fairfield Hospital Management Committee. He had been a member of the Royal Observer Corps and Flying Officer Bedford Squadron Air Training Corps. He was appointed a magistrate in 1950 and became chairman of the Bedford and Sharnbrook bench in 1965. He died in 1971 two months after being involved in a road accident.
