Bedford Primitive Methodist Circuit
Admin/biog history
Established in 1839-40 as a Mission of Hull Circuit. Still a mission in 1856 but a circuit by 1867. Divided in 1897 into Bedford I (Hassett Street) Primitive and Bedford II (Cauldwell Street) Primitive Methodist Circuits (see MB1/BHS and MB1/BCS).
Chapels in 1897 and subsequent circuit (Hassett Street or Cauldwell Street): Bedford Hassett Street (HS); Bedford Cauldwell Street (CS); Bedford Park Road (from 1887, HS); Ampthill (CS); Bletsoe (established 1867, removed from circuit plan 1884); Clophill (CS); Colmworth (HS); Houghton Conquest, How End (CS); Kempston, Newtown (CS); Lavendon (Bucks) (HS); Marston Moretaine, Bedford Road (CS); Maulden (CS); Oakley (HS); Pavenham (removed from circuit plan 1885); Sandy, Girtford (CS); Stevington (HS), Wootton Pillinge, later known as Stewartby (CS)
