Diminution in the number of prisoners as compared with the corresponding period last year - 8. The Turnkey having no secure place where he can deposit his bills, tickets & c it is ordered that a desk table with a drawer and lock be provided for his use. The price of the desk not to exceed 15s. In consideration of the good character of George mayes the gaol cleaner and the efficient way in which he performs his dutied the Visiting justices have agreed to allow him an extra shilling per week - making his present weekly wages 15 shillings - he having applied for an increase of salary.
