    The Special Session for the Highways held at Luton on 2 May 1864 were advised certain parts of a highway leading from Dunstable to St Albans were in need of repair and an order had been made by the Justice of the Peace. One part of the highway in question was between the Lodge, leading into the Park of Daniel Goodson Adey, in Caddington and Bucket Lane in Caddington. This ought be repaired by the parish of Caddington. The other side of the Highway was in Humbershoe and ought be repaired by the Hamlet of Humbershoe. The Justices of the Special Session declared the ordered the Highway to be divided in the following manner; that a distance of 154 yards measured from Mr Adey's lodge there would be erected certain posts or stones on each side of the highway and from the lodge to the posts would be in all time hereafter repaired by the parish of Caddington. The highway from the posts to Bucket Lane would in all time be repaired by the Hamlet of Humbershoe.
