- Scope and ContentSamuel Smith of Houghton Conquest, butcher – he saw some hen’s eggs, the property of Mr George Smith of Hoguhton Conquest, that were marked with ink by him and some with pencil marks by George Smith and placed in some hen’s nests on Smith’s premises. On the evening of Wednesday 27 April he examined the nests and some of the eggs were not there. He later searched Joseph Redman of Houghton Conquest, labourer, and found 5 eggs marked by himself on Redman and 3 marked by George Smith in Redman’s house.
