    p.6 The Baptist Church of Christ at Cotton End Cardington Beds was first formed in the year 1776, upon the strict communion plan, but was thrown open soon afterwards, to receive Mr Thomas Taylor, as member, who was a Pedobaptist, and would not unite with them upon any other condition. The Church was first composed of the following nine persons: Mr John Quenby, deacon; Mrs Mary Watford; Mary Watford junior; Elizabeth Pearce; Tempe Church; Anne Ayres; Mary Valentine; Eliz Curtis; Hannah Beeby. Mr Thomas Taylor and Mr Richard Beeby were afterwards chosen Deacons. 1776 June Mr Thompson was ordained. 1777 The Meeting House was built 28 feet long 28 feet wide. p.7 1779 Mr Thompson being contumacious, the Church requested the attendance of the following Ministers to assist in the investigation: Mr Coles, Pastor of the Church at Maulden Mr Symonds, Pastor of the Church at Bedford Mr Pike, Pastor of the CHurch at Ridgmont Mr Geard, Pastor of the Church at Hitchin. Mr Thompson was excluded. p.8 1783 Mr Luke Heywood from Watford became Pastor. Five people (John & Sarah Lamb of Cople, Thomas Peet of Cotton End, Elizabeth Wilcox of Cardington, Ste Gooden of Cople and William Warren of Cotton End) were baptised and received.
