    A) Apprenticeship Indenture:William Waterman Woodin son of Richard Waterman Woodin of Aspley Guise, cordwainer by and with the consent of his said father testified by his sealing and delivery hereof doth put himself apprentice to apprentice to Charles John Shelton of Bedford, carver, gilder, French Polisher, paperhanger and cabinet maker. From the day of the date hereof for the term of five years. Charles John Shelton for and in consideration of the sum of twenty eight pounds paid by the said Richard Waterman Woodin on the execution of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged. His said apprentice in the art of a carver, gilder, French polisher, paperhanger and cabinet maker which he useth by the best means that he can shall teach and instruct or cause to be taught and instructed finding unto the said apprentice sufficient meat drink and lodging during the said term. Richard Waterman Woodin hereby covenants with the said Charles John Shelton to provide for his said son sufficient and proper clothes washing and all other necessaries during the said term. In witness whereof the parties above named to this indenture have put their hands and seals the 10th day of October 1846.
