    Apprenticeship Indenture: William Underwood Millard of Woburn apprentice to Grey Jermain Cooper of Woburn, linen and woollen draper and wool stapler. To serve from the date of these presents for a term of seven years or until the age of 21 years. William Underwood Millard by and with the consent of Elizabeth Millard his mother doth put himself apprentice to Grey Jermain Cooper to be taught and instructed in the trade business and employment of linen and woollen draper and woolstapler from the day of the date hereof for the term of seven years or until the said William Underwood Millard shall arrive at the age of 21 years. The said Elizabeth Millard fro herself and for William Underwood Millard her son doth hereby agree with Grey Jermain Cooper that William Underwood Millard shall and will truly serve the said grey Jermain Cooper as an apprentice in the said trades and businesses of a linen draper and a woolstapler diligently attending to the said Master doing no damage to his said Master nor knowingly suffer the same to be done without acquainting his said Master thereof but shall and will in all respects acquit and demean himself as an honest and faithful apprentice ought to do. Elizabeth Millard shall and will find the said apprentice all clothes and apparel both linen and woollen and otherwise medical and other necessary assistance in the time of sickness or lameness and washing and all other necessaries during the said term. The said Grey Jermain Cooper in consideration of these premises and also in consideration of the sum of 95 guineas of lawful money of Great Britain to the said Grey Jermain Cooper in hand [paid by the said Elizabeth Millard at or before the execution hereof the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged…doth agree that he the said Grey Jermain Cooper according to the best of his power skill and knowledge shall and will teach and instruct or cause to be taught and instructed the said William Underwood Millard in the trades or business of a linen and woollen draper and woolstapler and in all things whatsoever incident and belonging…and will find for the said apprentice sufficient meat drink and lodging during the said term. 18 June 1814 Signed and sealed by Elizabeth Millard; William Underwood Millard; Grey Jermain Cooper.
