    To Isaac Ewer, Lincoln's Inn, Middlesex, Esquire, Richard Goodlade, London, merchant, and Francis Brace, Astwood, gentleman - Goods, personal estate etc (other than afterwards disposed of) in trust; Funeral to be conducted with decency only; Trusts: -- To daughter Anne, wife of said Francis Brace, £200 (to make her portion equal to her sister's and at request of her brother, John Thurloe, deceased) To daughter Mary Ligo, use of crimson velvetbed at Burcott, for life, and then to such of her married children as she wishes. Otherwise to children of Ann Brace; to said Ann Brace - Plate and silver utensils; To said Mary Ligo - All household goods that are in her house at Burcott, furniture and ornaments of 'my closett there'; To said Ann Brace - All household goods at Astwood; To each daughter - Moiety of personal estate to be divided between them by the trustees; To said Mary Ligo - Messuage in Astwood now in the occupation of John Higgins - 6 acres arable in the occupation of Richard Sheffeild, junior - Jones Close in the occupation of son Brace - 3 closes pasture called Govenigs in the occupation of John Higgins - Close pasture called Samuells in the occupation of Edward Phillips - Close pasture called Mitchells in the occupation of John Fore - Tappe Grove (wood) (1 acre) - Kents Close now in the occupation of John Higgins; All in Astwood; To be held by Mary and her female heirs. Otherwise to her male heirs. Otherwise to Ann Brace and her heirs. Otherwise to niece Sarah, late called Sarah Dalton ('my late dear husbands sisters daughter') and heirs. Otherwise to niece Johanna Clerk, widow of John, of Sharklewell, Esquire, and heirs. However if daughter Ann Brace or her husband or their children pay (within 12 months of her death) £700 to daughter Mary Ligo, to be laid out in purchase of freehold land in Buckinghamshire. To said Francis and Ann Brace; - Manor of Astwood etc - Capital messuage in which I now dwell - Close pasture now divided into 2 called Home Close - New field pastures now divided into 3 - Pieces arable, meadow and sward ground in the occupation of said John Higgins, in Astwood (except Kents Close). If no heirs of Francis and Ann, then to Ann's heirs and then to Mary Ligo and her female heirs and then her male heirs and in default to brother Gyles Litcoft, Esquire; To sister Mrs Ursula Upton - Black shagreen standish; To said brother Litcoft - My globes that are at his house; To said daughter Mary Ligo - Best diamond ring with one stone - Ring with 2 diamonds and one emerald - Ring with 3 large fancett diamonds and 4 lesser ones - One of my gold medals - Ebony cabinet - Scarlet scarsnett quilt; To said Ann Brace - Other diamond ring with one stone - Locket with 10 fancett diamonds and 8 smaller ones - My other gold medal - A Cesar's head in a seal - Prince wood cabinet - Flower pot in Linning on copper; To said 2 daughters - Books 'which are my dearest treasure'; To son-in-law Thomas Ligo - Emerald seal ring; To son-in-law Francis Brace - Agate seal; To grand daughter Eleanor Ligo - A Bible - Japan standish; To grand child Anna Maria Ligo - A Bible in 2 parts 'in my closet at Astwood' - Square silver box with 4 feet at Burcott; To grandson, John Thurloe Brace - Watch and silver seal 'that was my late deare son Johns' - Great Bible - All my law books - Jamaica comb case with 2 tortoise shell combs in it. If Ann Brace die without issue or if they die under 21, then £400 to go to executors of Francis Brace to be paid to person who holds Manor etc; to said John Hurst - 40s to help pay his debts in and about Astwood; To servant maid 'that shall live with me at my death' - 40s; said Isaac, Richard and Francis appointed exors and £5 bequeathed to each of them; will dated 15 Oct 1689; Probate (Prerogative Court of Canterbury) 8 Dec 1690
