pp.1-40 waste book: entries of each day’s transactions, debit or credit, mainly trading, but some personal (e.g. p.6, horse, wig, pocket expenses); opens with a statement of cash, goods and debts on 1 January. These entries are briefly posted to the next section
pp.49-73 journal: summarises entries in foregoing, and gives reference number for posting to ledger: e.g. “sundries dr. to stock, 1”, tobacco dr. to Samuel Haddon, 6,4”.
pp.94-155 (with original ink folio nos. 1-30): ledger: postings from the foregoing, under both name and commodity, e.g. “tobacco”, “Samuel Haddon”
